Maison Maubert is preparing to become your new premier destination for a stay in Thiers (Puy-de-Dôme). Nestled on the heights of the medieval city, our guest house overlooks iconic sites of Auvergne’s industrial heritage: the spectacular Creux de l’Enfer, the historic Usine du May, and our very own cutlery workshop, Fontenille Pataud.
More than just an overnight stay, we invite you to enjoy a truly immersive experience. Every window in our rooms offers a breathtaking view of the Durolle River, whose rushing waters have echoed through centuries of knife-making history.
To perfect your mornings, a homemade breakfast, prepared by us, is included in your stay. Both flavorful and authentic, it provides the ideal prelude to your discoveries in Thiers.

Staying at Maison Maubert means enjoying privileged access to the history of Thiers’ knife-making heritage. As hosts deeply rooted in this region and passionate about our craft, we are dedicated to sharing the soul of this unique industrial city with you.
This passion is brought to life through our close ties with houses of excellence, notably the renowned Fontenille Pataud cutlery. Cécile and Yann, crafting your stay
We are Cécile and Yann, directors of the artisanal cutlery house Fontenille Pataud. In love with Thiers, its steep winding streets, and its wild natural beauty, we are renovating this property to create a warm and welcoming guest house.
Our goal? To offer you much more than just a bed: a true starting point to explore the Livradois-Forez Regional Nature Park and the Auvergne volcanoes, all located less than 45 minutes away.

The Essence of the Place
“Built at the beginning of the 20th century by the cutler Maubert Meunière, this residence stands as a privileged witness to the activity of the Vallée des Usines (Valley of Factories). By staying at Maison Maubert, you will sleep in the heart of France’s industrial history, within a setting meticulously renovated to preserve the building’s soul.”
